Michael,

This is probably more the look I was aiming for. Harder surface and reflective.

Not at all, you're not trying to pass it off as your own design so it's ok.

If you're going to turn on reflections you need to add an environment to reflect. Bear in mind plastic is not all that reflective... user added image

Thanks Alan,

You're right the model above is too reflective. Just had a good look at the plastic model and it has light blurry type of reflection. I'm going to video the toy first to see how it comes up on video, then try to get the 3D model looking the same.

This is looking good. I have a question. The lines on top. Is that a bump map or is it actual geometry?

Hi Guys,

I'm trying to learn how to mix 3D footage with Real Video. Any tips or suggestion welcome. This is what I just did using Maya Live and Premier:

This video small so you can't really tell, but there is like a black edge around the model.

Thanks Guys,

I'm about to have a go at texturing the Thunderbird from the Movie, anyone have any tips or good tutorial suggestions for texturing to give Metal Panel look?

OK I'm having a go at doing a texture like the one in the movie and I'm not sure if I'm on the right track.

Is the below texture I created Crap ? :headbang:

BTW: Its not complete, I've only done a section.

I think side 2 is better looking. In the side by side comparison the one on the left is rougher looking. Maybe you can use Noise or a fractal as a bump-map to see if it will give you the same look.

I like it! user added image Is that a still image for your environment or actually video footage with your maya footage on top of it?
