June challenge - Hporter - Normal

wow! there are alot of people this month--- and all of you are so far into it already( and so many great models).... But I will throw my hat in anyhow. I now have a bit of time to play! user added image
------------------------------------------------
since I dont have a sketch, I will explain what I am doing-

Concept: a hot air balloon looking craft for the man in the moon to commute back and forth to earth. I know its wacky. its for a childrensbook I have been working on over the last few months.

it will be- Victorian styled- steam-punk looking with telescopes and stuff all over it.

*whew*

------------------------------------------------

I figure I will try and model with nurbs because I have never used them before, might as well learn right?

here is the start of the basket thing-

Axel are you Thai? I worked with a tremendous artist from Thailand, in my last job. His name is Whicar.. he taught me so much about PhotoShop. The schooling there seems like it would be great, He studied art through highschool->college.. then came to the US and attended two different colleges here. Hey has done covers for newsweek magazine and nike-disney--- he is really talented.

I'd like to meet your friend, Whicar - is he into computer arts? - it's hard to find some maya users here - exept in Bangkok - can u forward him my email?

Hey thanks guys-

Axel- without giving too much away about the story... The book is about a boy on earth and his turtle...the man in the moon.... a blackhole and the sun character. it is designed to teach children about the universe as well as entertain. I will attach some sketches in a later post.

Here is a concept sketch (better late then never!)

Here is some of the artwork/character sketches from the book.

I was planning to do it in 2d but since I started learning Maya... I think 3d is the way to go. why is 3d better than 2d? well its one more "D"
