Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

1st character model

Well I started working on this model a week ago. Most of that time has been in studying the anatomy, but I think its really helped me out quite a bit. Either way i've been stareing at this model to long.

Looking good mate.

Tho you might wanna bring his eyes a bit more together, and adjust the ears a bit too.

Good work.

Yup, what carsten said plus the whole face occupies too large area of the head. I'd make the face a bit smaller or the skull a bit bigger. Don't get me wrong, it's a very good start!

Yeah i've deffinetly been stairing at it too long, I completely missed that. Thanks for the comments. The ears are really messed up and I may just end up remodeling them from scratch, but heres the size changes I made.

It's looking very nice- the only thing that throws it a little for me are the eyes. The division between the eye sockets and the eyelids doesn't look very clear. As a result the eyes look like they are sticking out. You might try making the eyelids a bit clearer. The tear duct seems a bit high, giving the impression that the eye is over large.

Did a quick search on fineart for an example of what I mean in terms of eyelids and eye placement;

Coming along nicely though- the shader is nice, how was that done?

Ok, i'll start playing with the eyes when i have the time to. Thanks for the picture it helps a lot.

The shader was one i found at highend3d, and then plugged the color, bump, and spec maps I made in photoshop into it. I tried it without and it just didn't have that feal to it.
