It looks like you've made an instanced copy for the mirror. Try making a straight copy and then combine the halves and merge the vertices in the middle...

The vertex selected is one from the edge and so your just seperating the edge from the mirrored edge. Just move it back and the whole will close.

If you select any vertex from the line/edge and pull on the X axis the same thing will happen.

What are you trying to do nose btw.

(PS: that isn't the Hibbit Guy's tut by any chance

Yeah, but no but yeah but no....

Ok, here is what i would do aard, this is step by step to make it easy for you.

1. Select the half of your head
2. Figure out what axis is running through your head (X, Y, or Z)
user added image
3. Duplicate your head (Ctrl+D)
4. Open the Channel box (Display>UI elements>Channelbox / Layer editor)
5. Where it says "Scale _" (in the blank put your X, Y, or Z from step 2) make that -1.
6. Select both halves of the head and Combine (Polygons>Combine)
7. Click on your face and go into Edges (Rightclick - Edge)
8. Region select all of the middle edges and deselect all the extras (region selecting is the box when you drag with your mouse holding down user added image).
9. Once you have all of the middle edges selected merge the edges (Edit Polygons>Merge Multiple Edges)

Now you can go into your Vertex mode and move the verticies around as you please, seeing it is truly 1 piece now user added image.

The only thing you have to make sure of, is that in your Duplicate options (Edit > Duplicate > Options) that Instance has not been checked. Then you should be able to combine with no problems.

i've been working on this tut, i've taken a break from it (about a month) but i'll carry on with it soon.

Some advice, at the stage you are at now you should just worry about getting the head looking like a head, and forget about finer detail of the nose, eyes and mouth as thoughs parts are covered later in the tut. (the nose part is on page 6 to be exact, and you dont just move the current vertices of the nose, you add more using the draw poly tool)

You can see what mine looks like here: https://forum.simplymaya.com/showthre...?threadid=2881

EDIT: although mtmckinley and )v( advice is good, wouldn't to be harder to follow the tut later down the line having changed the way the head is setup? Although it may make it easier....
