Medieval Ages - cb8rwh

ello,

well here is my idea - pretty basic, but then so are my maya skills.

Just going to be some sort of layout of a Norman helmet and sword - as realistic as I can manage.

Below are the 2 source images I am using for sword and helmet

Cheers

Here is a first attempt at the helmet - in polys - not very advanced but just messing around with basic shape and basic mapped reflection.

looking good so far, keep it up man. user added image

If it can't be fixed with duct tape and a hammer, it isn't worth being fixed... Unless it's my computer.

ello,

changed the helmet, think I will stick with this as the final model. Any suggestions tho?? It might not exactly be exactly like the pic above But I haven't got the skills to get it exactly right.

I am going to change the reflection map at some point, it just seems a bit 'off' to me.

I did save the pic as a tga from maya, but when I loaded it into photoshop the bakground had disappeared!!!

Anyway, I am onto a sword now. Tried it in nurbs and polys - not very good but will try a combination of polys/subds - havent used subds a lot at all, lets hope I can learn quickly user added image

cheers

re the texture, I went to the alias wavefront site and there is a tutorial about how to adv a env ball map to a sphere. I just used the method but used a pic i downloaded from the net. It REALLY is straightforward, gets good results as well.
