Oh man you whant to get that cartoon looking shader, i will find the link to one web page where you can download one nice plug in for cartoon looking shaders!

the shader is fine all around but i find that it deletes details...like in the face of your model theres no definition for the cheek or something....just eyes nose n mouth....cant u put in a bit more "real" in the toon-real mix?lol

I personally think your MR method rocks man! I think it is an awesome style of a render. I'm going to check out your link on the settings for it. I'd stay with the MR if I were you. Nice work man...

hopesfall, thanks man!!

Yeah mental ray rocks big time!! its amazing all that it can do! I've been playing around with some toon shaders that look like cel, but no luck yet. I can't even find a shader called cel for maya or mental ray, but there are lots for max, lightwave, softimage etc, etc, but non for maya? So mental ray seem to be the only way to make the cel look.
