This course will look at the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. We'll look at what makes a good model in Maya and why objects are modeled in the way they are.

Low Res Production Renders

This is strange this one... I have just put Maya back on my computer and it seems that no matter what setting I use Preview, Intermediate or Production using the Maya Software or Mental Ray renderer the results I get are always the same - they look like low res renders???

Everything else looks fine.

Just for the record I am running XP Home SP2 and this is my machine:

Athlon 64 3000+
1gb RAM
ATI 9600XT

I have never seen this one before, I will post a render latter.

If it looks anti-aliased, you could try hitting the 1:1 button up top. It could be that the render isn't showing at the proper ratio.

The plot thickens... I did a sample render of this mugs head at 'Preview' resolution and another at 'Production' quality resolution. In the render window there didn't seem to be much difference but when I opened them with PhotoShop I found the results that I expected.

It must be a driver problem with my ATI 9600XT GPU. Here's what Photoshop shows:
