June Challenge - [icarus_uk] - N00bie

Well Witchy is forcing me to enter this one as its somthing I might be able to do, (Im not to good at the organic things). So we shall see how it goes.

Ideas;

Either a submarine for those eXtreme underwater enviroments.

Or maybe a robot, "mars lander" type vehicle.

I went with mini-sub for my first outing.

I was finding it hard to get a place to start, so I started from the boots up, or in this case the grabby robo arms up;

Its not a huge start, but I want to have something to show before Witchy does user added image :banana:

I wanted to have somthing to show by lunchtime today, and I just ate lunch so here it is. There are a few seams I have to close up, but its progressing well.

Youre looking at the rear right corner of the sub body, with the main prop vent in the top there, I still have a prop to make for it.

looks like a sub of some sort, but i think a real sub would be more round, for aero-dynamic (er water-dynamic) purposes.

Its one of those mini subs used for exploration of ship wrecks, at least thats what Im telling myself.

I wanted to make it so when looked at you could tell "oh yes thats a submarine", but for it not to really like like your stereotypical sub.

Been trying to make a propellor this afternoon. Not really happy with any results, but Im sure it'll get sorted eventually.

lol.. not so sure ive seen many a sub on TV that is shaped like a mangled shoe box, ( it was on TV.. it must be right) but yeh.. war or fast ones tend to be alot more slim line.. the shoebox style ones are made for those deep sea dives. Put a nice big engine on it and that would tell water dynamics whos boss user added image

Mangled shoebox? user added image user added image As for the sausage sub, as you say those are associated with military vessles, and I didnt want to make one of them "Its a sub for extreme wars", that sounds silly, I wanted extrmeme depths and extreme ship wrecks.

Just a few online referances I thought you might like to look at as I cant scan in my sketch, as I dont have a scanner;

Hehehe, that last reference one resembles my drawings as of now. :p
Model looks very promising, love all the detailing it has already.
Watch those seams though.

Slowed down my previous quasi-frantic pace. This is a shot of one of my rear turbines used for forward and backward movement. Ive still got bow thrusters to model and all axis of movement will be taken care of, except the fourth dimension, but I think that might be a bit too extreme.
