Human Form- Take Two

Morning All,

Those of you that saw my previous effort at a head will be aware that I have some problems with basic anatomy and proportions.
Right, If I am ever going to be any good at modelling then I need to rectify that, starting now. So..
I bought a DVD on anatomy, ( from Freedom-of-Teach, as recommended by Falott ) and have been working hard on getting some things better.
The method used in this DVD is, by the way, extrusion from a base block, and seems to work pretty well for me anyway. Interesting at least...

Here is some of the figure as it develops...

hi,
thanks, you just made a grown man very happy!

Me give advice? I'm too new to even try really. I would recommend the DVD I referred to though, if you would like to get your anatomy straight. The guy is awesome, and he gives you a great idea how the *real* pros do it.
My anatomy was a mess, and still needs work....

cheers for the kind words mate,
mic

And,

on the subject of landscapes, I saw your work in another thread and was amazed by the detail in it. Terrific work.

I was so impessed that I ordered Vue d'Esprit Pro Studio on the spot. I should be getting it soon and can't wait to play around with it. Then I may be seeking some of your advice... user added image

this is a pretty damn good looking mesh! anatomical modeling rocks! have you seen the "hyper realistic modeling" DVD from Alias? that´s too a good learning ressource. it´s a bit of a different approach to creating organic forms but also very informative.

keep up the good work!

Still a lot to do on the front side. The feet are crap, the abs need a lot of work yet....

I agree with magicsy. might be wrong, but I also recognize you didn´t use real reference for the feet/toes yet. you maybe knowing but nonetheless I point on using as much good reference as you can get.

if you need some hiRes ref for particular body parts like hands and feet from any/orthographic angle send me a pm and I mail you pics.

Good work so far mate. Well done. The feet could definitely use some work - some spread in the toes and an arch to the foot - but it sounds like you already know what to do...

Keep it up. user added image

G'Day All,

work goes on. i'm back to the old favourite again. The head.
Maybe with the help of some anatomy study I am on a slightly better grounding with the geometry this time.
Please let me know what you think...

Thanks,
mic
