Graphics Card Benchmark

Hey guys, was going threw bench marks of graphics card and didn't quiet get this. The GeForce GTX 480 seems to be leading at the top of the rank but there is another card called GTX295 which is twice as much in price although sitting at the 20th mark.

Also does anyone know what those number figures mean?

The 295 was the top of the previous generation (hence the disproportionate price) and was made up of essentially 2 GPUs in one card. The 480 is in the newest generation, not sure if it is top of the line, or if they will introduce a "495" like the older one.

Yeah, that seems a bit odd, I see that the 275, which I have is well above the 295... I wonder if they were testing just a single GPU off the 295 or something. Either way, you always have to take these benchmarks with a grain of salt.

I have not read all the posts thoroughly but the gtx 295 is effectively two gtx 250's in a single unit. It's top single gpu speed is therefore limited to the speed of a gtx 250 gpu, however, its has twice as many gpu's.

So for things that parallelize well the 295 demo's well but for things that do not multithread well, then the 27x and 28x will out perform the 295.
