Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

So here is a question for my friends here at SM, do you usually focus on texture mapping your objects or lighting your scene first?

Textures first.

Okay so textures it is.

I kinda thought so, but I often see beautiful renders of plan white / gray objects Like that Inner Cathedral that Toddster did here

https://simplymaya.com/forum/showthread.php?t=37677

which clearly has Lighting effects, and is amazingly well done I might add, that I was curios if I had been doing things backwards.

Of course after modeling something(especially like that), you just have to see it rendered from a couple angles, you just have to! And the physical sky can get you there in one click but seriously tuning the lighting, nah, simply because a lighting setup that looks nice with a white matte shader daubed over everything might look totally underwhelming after textures. Well that's how I look at it.

Duh duh duhn - The Eggsecutioner

Well ND Hopefully you can handle one more pun as the title of my scene.

I still have a lot of texturing and lighting to take care of but I figured I would post up my next WIP for some critique and tips I would like my scene to have a much more realistic feel than it currently does so if anyone has any ideas throw them out there for me user added image
