Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world

Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

Has anyone else found the 3d paint tool to be so rediculously slow on anything above 256x256 that it's totally unusable? I have dual AMD processors at 2.4 Ghz each, a Quadro 1000, and 1 gig of ram, and it takes several seconds for the color to follow the brush from one point to another.

Yep, slow as hell, prefer not to use em :p. But depends on how much you use it, ofcourse.... One day I had to make a space sence, and I randomly painted *a lot* of galaxy strokes on the thing.... couldn't even turn. Leter that day I found out that I oculd just do with one stroke, when I made it twice as big :p .. user added image

, You could also just convert to poly?

hmmm.... I have a P4 2.8GHz with 1 Gig RAM and it works fine for me with a 512x512.....
