I think you are probably using Subdiv Surfaces -> Mirror, when you should be using Polygons -> Mirror Geometry for polygons.

Im sure the video will answer your question if not.

I actually dont like how the Polygons > Mirror Geometry command functions... I always do it "manually." That's the proceedure my video goes over.

Ahh, yeah thats probably the safer way to do it.
Just curious though, why don't you like the mirror function?
I use it alot, but maybe I shouldn't if theres something bad about it?

well, so far when I've used it, it hasn't worked the way I wanted... either the mirror won't be positioned like I want, or it'll be combined with the previous, even though I uncheck combine in the options.... stuff like that.

Glad you find it useful, qwerty. user added image

The great thing about Mikes Manual Mirror technique, is that you can mirror an object on its pivot point, not just on one side.

Tonight, i had a full object, that wanted duplicated, and mirrored. So the built in Polygon Mirror would not do the trick. Then i learned Mikes way, and it worked great.
