Why is there a teapot in 3DS Max?

Not only was the teapot first created at University of Utah in 1975, this is also where the first 3D scan of a car took place and the model, a Volkswagen Beetle, was probably the first 3D model ever made.

Interesting read. I wonder if the teapot's topology stayed exactly the same over the years.
