Complex UV Layout in Maya

Sub_D Duplication Problem

I created a basic hand using polys, then to add better detail I converted it to Sub-Ds. After I had gotten a reasonable looking hand for the project, I duplicated the hand and flipped it to the other side.
However, for some odd reason the duplicated hand still remains as both poly and standard. Thus primarily showing the poly aspect of it but with spots here and there where the standard version shows itself. I was wondering why this is the case, did I not dupplicate it properly? Thanx.

Try deleting the history before duplicating. That might do it, not 100% sure.

No it's because you have "keep original" turned on in the convert to subdivs options box. Turn that off and you wont see the original.

How's the best way to turn it off if it was converted awhile ago in order to finish modeling it ?
