Introduction to Maya - Rendering in Arnold
This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

Sea Turtle

I started on a sea turtle; haven't really worked on the head yet. I thought it might compliment my sea lion nicely:

Top wire looks a little odd, you sure there isn't a better what to go about that?

other than that, looks cool so far, user added image

Agreed, I would make a cube and shape that with a lattice.

Do you think it's worth changing now since the shell won't deform?

i would think you'd be able to do some 'non-fake bump mapping' if you changed the topology to suit that of a turtle shell

also just noted your new sig.
so on an off topic note hows that ray tracer of yours?

that's a "Ch" pronounced as a "K"

Computer skills I should have:
Objective C, C#, Java, MEL. Python, C++, XML, JavaScript, XSLT, HTML, SQL, CSS, FXScript, Clips, SOAR, ActionScript, OpenGL, DirectX
Maya, XSI, Photoshop, AfterEffects, Motion, Illustrator, Flash, Swift3D

Oops, sorry, I missed this

I'll probably change the topology then.

I didn't steal the sig from you at all... :p

At the moment, it works for multiple spheres, has flat and lambert shading and saving to a .bmp (which, instead of using a library, I for some reason decided to do by hand; that set me back quite a while but I learnt a lot, which was the point after all). It hasn't got shadows or reflections yet. I haven't had much time to work on it recently as I've been busy with my university application but I hope to have at least those two things implemented by my first interview (4th of november). Another thing that has been distracting me is....well elephant arena is now on the iphone!

Needs a bit more work first...
