Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.
Ok, here's a little something for ya
A really rough sketch I did last night. I might tone down the leg size and increase the ab/chest area size. I might do another detail sketch of the head/face, but I think I'm gonna go into modeling mode
It's a robot made of overlapping metal armor plates. Well, that's the plan anyway
See, this is kida like the style i wanted to do this month, then my robot morphed into some weird guy... i hope mine comes out ok... and i cant wait to see where you go with this . Cya.
"I should call you sugar maple tree cause i'd totally tap that" haha
I'm finding now how much of a newbie I really am at modeling. My concentration is iin character animation, but I'd like to be more versitle in the other areas as well. Thats why I'm here Hopefully I can get some pointers, especially on adding detail. Here's a rough start to the models arm. Just not sure how to go about adding notches/detail/form. I basically used polygon cubes and tweaked them a bit.
with the detail as its a bot just get you rough shape first. Then you can always add little bits as you improve, dont worry to much on the detail yet - It WILL come mate, but lots of this modeling first.
Also dont be scared to pull all kinds of wired shapes! you will be suprised with what comes up accidently
But its great to see you doing a project - now we can watch your improvement!
now with a side to you could really get close to your image!
then when you have you shape you can convert to polys (under the modify menu) and really start to add detail! then you could just select faces and cut away, add bits like your middle joint area etc..
