stuck in 3d line view?

Hi Guys, I'm new to maya.

Started doing the cartoon dog tutorial, but came up with a problem when making the head.

My sphere is in 3d line mode. I want it looking like 2d, to make it easier to grab the correct lines and stretch them.

I am using Maya 2008.

Anyone know how I can view the sphere for the head in the same mode as movie tutorial 1?

Thanks in advance. :headbang:

you just need to tap space bar and it will switch to the four panel layout (or whatever the last layout was)
then hold the mouse over the side view panel and tap spacebar again

if it doesn't revert to the four pane view layout thing then just click the button on the tool bar onthe left
its the button that has four little squares and three of them have little + shapes

these are your orthographic views, top, front, and side in the same layout you'd have them if you were drawing it on paper

that's a "Ch" pronounced as a "K"

Computer skills I should have:

Thanks for replying Chirone.

These views still are not the same as what I saw in the cartoon dog tutorial.

I'm going bananas trying to work out how its done :headbang:

If you get a chance to view the first tutorial of the cartoon dog, you will know what I mean.

You could post up screen grabs of your viewport and their viewport if possible?

It's not too clear what your problem is but this would help,

cheers
