Building101 - WIP

Hey guys, been a while since i posted anything on the WIP sub-forum but here's something i been working on recently.

Almost at the finishing stages of modeling, just gotta do a bit more detail on the ground level, model the roof and tweak a few things here and there.

Ha - it looks like the building from Ghostbusters HE HE -I know its not as the doors are not big enough.

Looks like a good start so far

Its a good start mate, there appears to be some parts that dont match with the image. Im not being picky LOL...once a Surveyor...I will wait to see more if you can mj? There are line points etc that dont seem to match what it should be...not having seen the actual building I could be wrong.

@ Ant - Yeah i realised after mid-way threw this project that some parts of the buildings proportion wouldn't be right due to the fact that i was only using two references i took from street level. It was a bit hard for me to distinguish most of the in depth detail from that angle.

One of the main reason for this project get me into the feel of Maya again and relearn some techniques as its been quiet some time since i have modeled anything. But have now finally realised after two years of slacking off at home, i have wasted so much time! I think i am on the right path now though. hopefully, haha! This will be my first portfolio piece.

Here is screenshot of a mockup i did the other day of how it will kind of look like. Still need to take some more photo's of the window details and try and see if i can get some photos of the upper roof floor. Though don't know if i even will be able to as the building adjacent is privately owned.

Sorry for the horrible screenshots, will learn how to render one day with proper lighting soon.

Thanks for the comment user added image Umm actually i haven't even used bevel within this project yet. Its actually just mainly objects overlapping each other and using the Boolean + Union/Difference tool...

Nice job so far mate...I would like to see this textured...its worthy of some time to colour it in LOL...though that may take a while. Keep it up...Im sure even if it is privately owned...ask them and tell them you are doing a Uni project blah blah blah (In other words bullshit to them..no harm in photos)...do the journalist thing...you know (wink)

@ Bullet - Yeah eventually ill texture it but at the moment I'm just trying to learn how to model efficiently.

So after a bit of a delay, i eventually finished modelling and stitched this up. FINALLY MY FIRST COMPLETED PROJECT AFTER 4ish years of bludging user added image Anyway, happy with the result of the modeling though the render's don't look that appealing(still gotta learn how to render properly). Im quiet surprised at how much cleaning up/stitching/deleting back faces lowers the poly count. Got it from 100k to a clean 35k tri's. Here's a few horrible renders to look at...
