Mr Uglies UV Map

Hi everyone, I haven't been here for a while but I have returned to finish a character I started a while ago...

I wanted to use BodyPaint to texture this geezer but then realised that I would have to do a proper UV map which I have done. But I am not sure that I have done it quite right.

Please have a look and tell me what you think oh learned Maya users.

I also found that laying out the UV took ages, is this the norm? I know how to use Planar, Cylindrical, Spherical and Automatic mapping techniques along with Relax UVs, Unfold UVs but there must be some techniques for speeding this up.

This is the critter:

And here's the map:

Thanks in advance.

Tickety boo and ta ta for a bit...

Your UV Mapo look OK to me, but I can see little bits there and there that could do with tidying up.

Yes I am afraid. UV mapping a complex character will take sometime to complete. The lower the polycount the less time, the higher the longer.
