Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

cool user added image glad to see you back in another challenge

I was thinking along the lines of a military style landmate from appleseed hence the dual shell. Anything with an exoskeleton could be cool, like insects have maybe?

Thanks for the replies guys! Very cool ideas you have in mind; however, I didn't exactly have weaponry in mind when I first though of dual shell. I'm still working on a few concept sketches, and I will sketch a couple of weapons while I'm at it. I will post the concepts soon.

The first thing hat came to minde for me was a freaky looking alien animal, like a turtle, except with 2 shells on it or somthing

Ok, after a few days of sketching concepts, I finially decided on something. I'm going to do a double barrel tank . Now this sketch is just a concept. The actual model will look a bit difffernt. The sketch is just a very loosly based concept.

Other ideas were.

-a dual shelled egg- ( my first initial idea )

-a dual barrel shotgun

-a dual barrel blaster pistol ( aka. Blade Runner style )

-a dual layered light bulb- ( heh, don't ask me why )

I was going to post sketches of these until I thought of the tank.

Allrighty then, here is the first of many wip's. Started on the turrent first. Still have lots of work yet to do to it. This model will be really detailed when it's complete.

Let me know what you think.

Nice. I kind of like the bulkier aspect of the barrels in the concept better. I also like how they are kind of fused together, like a shotgun.

In either case, I'd suggest making the edges a little harder and not too "bubbly" around the barrels.

Keep it up!

Ok, I made the gun turrents a little bigger, and took a little of the roundness out of them. Started shaping the body out a bit.

A perspective shot from the back. I still have alot work to do. The dual gun turrents will have to be remodeled to better match the cosmetics of the tank.
