I need help with UV Texturing

I have a 1000 poly character and im trying to UV texture it, but its taking foooorrreeevveer, and its sooo anoying. Im not making look they way I want to.. is there an easier way or am I just going to have to try to stick it through, or quit with it?

just takes practice and time. It's definitely not my fave part. :p

but also keep in mind that u cant get a perfect smooth uvmap
dont move every UV point that are inside the shell , work only at the areas that are more important and going to have more texture in them , and dont forget to relax the UVs ...

what is relaxing the UV's?

average verticies but for UVs only user added image, saves duplicating and relaxing the mesh as a whole.
