Introduction to Maya - Rendering in Arnold
This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

No-one will get to see it until its all done (simply because I have to render it out in bits) plus still got 2 sections to texture one of which has all of them guns and the other the wings/comms area. - UV mapping on the wings almost done.

looks sweet! textures are really nice, i like the colours. you've done an amazing amount of work on this, especially considering you were in hospital.

I shall do some mine on Saturday; i'm doing some work for a website so this isn't priority. user added image

those images look really flat in that one. the vents and the metal bit above them and the pipes and wires bit at the front.

Thank you all for the kind words

Whats left :

1) Re render the wings section (I call it comms) as the texture is a different colour to the rest - don`t ask me how.

2) The front lights (blue window type things at the front) have not been rendered yet

3) Add the moon - but I may not

4) Add lights to the comm towers

5) Try and make it stand out a little more from the background. - Dam me making it the same colour as the Earth

6) Sit back and relax after the most stress I have ever had over rendering ever. Taking it easy is something I just cant do when it come to these challenges - even after a op.

Saying that, this more than any other challenge I have learnt a lot from. I will be sad to see this end. I`m hoping everyone gets there`s in as there has been some really cool idea kicking about (sorry not said much in the threads, but have been recovering). Really nice to see so many entries - even Arren had a go again.

Oh and final poly count on this baby was 1.7 million polys as I went in and got rid of a lot of scrap faces and random polys here and there. Render time for the 23 different layer so far 7.5 hours - so not as bad as Grimlock yet.

23 render layers! ...that's got to be a record!
