Just go my first DVD/CD-R for my computer. Went out and rented Die Another Day. MAN! Rosamund Pike v. Halle Berry. WOW!

i dont want to steal your thread, ultra, but anyone know which stand alone dvd players in the usa are code free? well, i dont have many dvds yet - but the few i have i wanted to take with me to the us. oh well, if nothing works i have to watch them on computer - but computer screen is tiny compared to normal tv user added image

Don't forget that most computer DVD players can only have there region codes changed so many times(normally 5 times I think), then it won't allow you to change it anymore. This isn't a software thing, it's physically part of the player. It is to reducing movie pirating, and getting movies in from overseas before they are released locally.

well, i am aware of that - but i dont care if the computer can do region 1 - i only need it for region 2. why should i ever bother to watch a dvd on code 1 on computer if i can put it in the stand alone dvd player in living room?

There are a few dvd players that are code free. I don't think they are local tough. You must by them overseas. Here is a good link

I have a Apex DVD player...it was on sale for $50. It plays all dvd region codes. It rocks. It also has an mp3 player user added image
