strain on server

Looking at loading maya7 on school network.
Will be teaching charactor creation, animation, rigging and rendering for charactors and scenery in a games subject.
Administration are concerned with the load for 30 students using Maya at once (saving). Computers are all new and set to correct specifications
They are concerned with size of Maya charactors and images taking up all the space.
We have a 250 gigabit server but only 100 gigabytes dedicted to students
Some general specification for size of files and server load would certainly ease their concern. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
