problems with the stitch tool

Is there a way to force smoothness between two surfaces when using the stitch tool? I always get sort of a crease when I use the stitch tool and I have to manipulate the control points until it appears continuous but never quite right. Is there some sort of tangent setting I can use?

Also, I coulda sworn the stitch tool used to line up all the isoparms. Like if a surface had 3 isoparms in the U direction but were over to one side and it was stitched to a surface that also had 3 but evenly distributed, shouldnt one of the surfaces re-distribute its isoparms so that they flowed continuously from one surface to the other?

I WILL get this stuff!
