Production Weblog

Howdy folks!

Just runnin through the website & thought a few of you might be interested in this.

Now that I'm pretty much finished up on Lord of the Rings, I'm working on a short film called "Jonh and His Dog". I'm documenting the entire process of creating the short, from first stages of developing the boards, to the scripts I'm using to create it, to the techniques for building the characters, to developing shaders, etc etc etc etc etc.

You get the idea.

Anyway, check it out and join in if you feel like it!

cheers!

Good to see you on the site Jason user added image

Been checking this since advertised on CG Talk.
Very brave to take on this scale of independant production.

I see you're working in OSX, and since you are going for npr have you considered looking into the OSX version of PRMan, coming out soon I hear. Just thought it would suit your scripting tallents and give you a bit more artistic freedom than Tomcat.

Your site is looking great btw, good luck with the film!

Thanks chris!

haven't thought about using prman.. we use it here at work, but I'm pretty comfortable with maya's renderer, and have been able to get a good look that I like using it and the vector render script I wrote. But that being said.. it's slow.. so.. hmm. ya never know. I may end up switching over, depending on cost 'n stuff!

But yeah, the tomcat toon shader is cool, but it doesn't give give me the results I'm looking for. That being said, it shouldn't stop others from using it, if it gives them what they need!

cheers!
