double edge

I have an object with differing topology on its surface. I have extruded two edges from different locations on this object. I am trying to make planar my two newly extruded edges(join them). The only way i can figure out is by extruding from one to the other but this is not exact where they meet and i end up with two edges.
please

I'm not certain I'm understanding exactly what your question is... if I am understanding, it sounds like you just need to merge the vertices of the two edges together.
