exporting maya animation as vrml

I'm trying to export a very basic animation that basically consists of turning on the visibility of objects from maya in vrml format. I have the vrml export plug-in turned in and the animImportExport plug-in turned on as well. I believe i have the settings correctly, but when I export it I only get a touch sensor with empty parameters and no info inside. help!!!
