This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

great work.
but the lighting need to be redone.
some areas are way too bright considering how dark some other areas are.
u don't have to use a single light to light your scene.

Nailed: Yeh there will be a stem on the ivy. The pic you see there was just to see if the leaves look ok with mental ray. I will adjust the shadows by my next update.

Vlad: I was planing to add a another light closer to the camera but ended up making the ivy. I guess it should be done as soon as possible before i find i need to redo all my textures user added image

OK so the day of maya didn't happen. I instead went to work and then spent the rest of the day in the pub.

Will start again in the morning

Had a problem geting back into maya for some reason but lovin it again now.

Here is a small update to get things going again. I redid the lighting and some of the textures. Still need to make textures for other parts of the scene:

EDIT: C & C needed as ever

Thanks anita! Your Jolie is looking great BTW!

Did a small render with not so much yellow and am pleased with the results. Will render a larger image when I've got more done.

nice, but sunlight is high-energy light and therefore has a blue touch instead of a yellow touch (low energy light like arificial light) ...

try render it with wihte / little blueish light ... the image should get its yellow tone only from the textures, and maybe add something really white, so that one can see, its bright sunlight (like a sheet hanging out of a window ...)

Blue light?! Now there is somthing I aint tried!

Was going to hang a sheet out of the window but decided against it because I don't want to over detail the left wall.
