Problem with particles and ripples

I am modeling a sewer at the moment and there is going to be a water particle flowing from the roof and when it hits the water in the sewer i want there to be a ripple effect. I am fairly new to maya and I am not sure how to do this, what are my options?

Hello mklem3 welcome to SMuser added image

The easiest way of doing this, besides faking it in post, or in Maya with a shader, is explained in the following simple tutorial at the Autodesk AREA website by Dunkan Brimsmead.
(He helped create fluids, and the new Nucleus node for nParticles and nCloth)

Good luck!
