Q:where do you get the electrical power to make electrolisys and break H2O to H2 and O to be able to recombine them in the engine?
A:the same place most of the electrical power comes: Petrol or, even worse, coal... (hydroelectric being just a small fraction)
There have been hydrogen prototipes for decades... two bus lines in my city run on it. The guy of the news might have made advancements on containment of the Hydrogen, but the fundamental trouble its still there: Hydrogen is just a energy storage medium, you cant tap it from nowhere, you have to produce (and store) it...
Renewable energy sources arent nearly enough to power the hydrogen enconomy, so as i posted some months ago: ITER project (relatively clean fusion power) must be researched and developed into a commercially viable stage ASAP... and america should stop researching fusion bombs dressing it like fussion power plants (as Sandia currently does) and embrace the pure energy plant path.
