This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

PolySmooth Question

I am following a tutorial on modeling a human body, and am working on the torso. The only problem is, when i smooth my polygon torso, i get a really weird effect. If you look at the attatched image, you can see the origional poly torso on the right, and the messed up smooth version on the left. I opened the scenes support file that had the same poly torso, and that one smoothed fine. What is wrong, do i have messed up edges or vertices or something?

Thanks

David

well looks like you have some edges down the midle that are not joined. you could merge verts. I'm not sure what is going on with the wierd shape there. Might be your smooth settings. could you show a screen cap of that and the wire frame on the lowpoly object ?

Hey thanks for you help, I ended up figuring it out. I had to go to Polygons>Tool Options and make the faces shared, or whatever the option is. Otherwise, when i extruded the faces I was creating a separate polygonal object for each face, so when I smoothed it came out really weird.

Thanks

David
