Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

can't get mental ray Nodes bar in Hypershade

I am going through the Learning Maya 5 book on Rendering and it says on page 310:

If you have no "Create mental ray Nodes" tab in your Hypershade, you have to add an environment variable to your Maya. env file.

Create a plain text fire named Maya.env

On Windows, save the file to "drive:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\maya\version" or "drive:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\maya ".

...

Add this line to your text file:

MAYA_MRFM_SHOW_CUSTOM_SHADERS=1

Save the file in text format as Maya.env and restart Maya if it was open. Make sure you only have one Maya.env file.

I have done all this, yet there is still no Create mental ray Nodes bar in the Hypershade window. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?
