Yer faces and keeping the polys low can be tricky, but a few years back I took aload of free models and cleaded them up (most free ones are tri's). It really helps u learn how to solve quads problems at low levels. If you have the time I think its worth it. Then once you have a goodclean model, u can then play about with the edge loops and what u can take out without compermizing the shape.

great idea man, though i have to admit when i do a face model, it usually ends up do bad i have to clean it all up anyway user added image


the more I Think I know about Maya the less I seem to know about it.
