Complex UV Layout in Maya
Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

The ocean has a procedural shader. The boat has mostly file textures. For the smaller bits i used procedurals though...

It's really good - I like the way the lights on the boat look and the roll of the boat in the water - it pitches really realistically. Nice. Only thing that occured to me is there might be objects forced loose by the motion that would be flung around the deck. Cool.

Thanks. I've though of this too. I'm not sure if I'm going to do that though. Too many other problems to solve :/

A good fisherman keeps his stuff fastened, to avoid them getting lost in the storm. user added image

Worked on the ocean shader and the environment a bit. I still somehow don't like the look. What would you change?

This frame is when no lightnings are going on:

Bare in mind that the two images above are straight out from the renderer. Eventually I'll render in passes and layers so I can better control for example the too high specular on the ship hull...

Looks great, man. user added image

The main things I think to make it look totally killer:

1) The lights from the boat don't seem to be affecting the water.
2) Some particle spray would be cool.
3) A wake caused by the boat.

Ok, haven't fixed the lighting nor the too high specular level on the hull but started playing with the particles though. Some foam, mist and rain has been added. More particles will be added later...
