This course will look at the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. We'll look at what makes a good model in Maya and why objects are modeled in the way they are.

hey all
this is my first thread in this section so here i go,i have basically done the rigging and the colour maps all is remaining is doing the eyes and the hair ..so what do you think...?

The body seems a little too angular at the moment, that could probably do with some working on, and the bow thing in the middle looks really odd, I'm guessing because its rigid rather hanging down.

thanks chris about the bow any ideas of how i can make it more flowing.....?

Ditto on what bendingiscool said. You can use some deformers and sag the bow a bit.

the clothes look awesome! better than what i can do

is it me or are the eyes up a tad too high?
something about the actual body looks a little disproportionate (is that even a word? well, im trying to say the proprtions look off)
i would like to say how to improve it but im at a loss... not sure what could be done sorry...

thanks chirone if there was a way of remodelling after painting the textures i would do it (or is there a way...?)
just learnt how to do a clay render so heres my image no updates yet im still modelling his accessories

If you're aiming for realism there are a few things that need to be fixed but if you're doing your own personal style then no biggie. If its a personal project then just keep going, you'll learn a few do's and don'ts for next time, (now I'm not saying not to push your skills) but stressing over every little thing is just going to frustrate and depress you til you ditch the project all together lol.

hey Gec T just seen your profile on cgsociety and i must say great lighting atleast i know who i'll talk to when i get to that part of the project......
quick question though i was thinking of maybe turing this into a short animation now i know i would have to turn the shirt and shawl into a cloth object but i keep getting errors like: cant find the matching name cpsolver
is there something wrong that im doing oh im using maya 8
