help me

Hello to everyone!!! I m new in your company and really I need your help. Also I m new in Maya 2008. That i would like to ask you guys is, how can i move all the leg with one "nurb" because now i moved my character's joints "joint by joint".For the accuracy I want it to use it in legs..For example i saw some tutorials who had one think in front to the knee and from that can control all the leg. How can I do that?
Thank you user added image

Look for a tutorial about an IK leg setup, the knee control your talking about is called a pole vector constraint.
