Maya is slow

I've been running Maya on a comp with 256mb RAM and 40gig hard drive, and needless to say, it runs smoothly (even if this is the worst amount of RAM) and fine. Just a month ago, I've had a 'semi-upgrade' and got another SATA 40 gig hard drive making it 80 gig. I've also got the power supply replaced since it has become buggy and added another 256 RAM. So I now, these are my specs:

Intel Pentium 4 CPU 1.60GHz
512 RAM
2 SATA 40gig Hard drives
Windows XP Media Center Edition
geForce4 MX AGP 8X

And when I opened Maya, it was slow and performed roughly. Everytime I try to do something, i.e. rotate a simple cube, it takes me about 5-10 secs to do it. It shouldn't be like this right? And then when I put a texture on a plane in the perspective view, it got slower. The texture, also, didn't appear in the orthographic views, only white. Why is it running slow? I tried reinstalling the video card but still nothing. Any thoughts and suggestions?

Nevermind, it's already fixed. I took out the video card then put it back again and when I turned it on, it was running normally again.
