Thirsty anyone??

Tryin my hand with fluid dynamics with that clever little proggy - RealFlow 4. Here is a still from a animation currently rendering (I will post it when uploaded). Render was done in mentalray under a HDRI dome.

Thanks...

Hey starjsjswars,

RealFlow is a stand-along program that accepts most common 3D appz exported geometry (including animation). Then allows you to create very realistic fluid effects using preset & customizable emitters for liquids or gas. The resulting mesh can then be re-imported into Maya for rendering etc.

Check it out at:- https://www.nextlimit.com/realflow

Also, The test animation is now complete and can be downloaded from:-

https://savefile.com/files/406163 (950Kb - click on the big orage DOWNLOAD button)

Have fun!

Yeah, that would be cool - but it was only a dynamics test. I'm already onto my 2nd, going to try to make red wine this time user added image

Well the actual render from maya wasn't too bad - about 2 mins per frame. But RealFlow had to 1st calc. the mesh and that took a few hours (I left it running over night user added image)

The next test has wine pouring from a bottle into a glass & is takin it's sweet time. But I spoze once I get better at using RealFlow, I'll find some shortcuts.

Thought it might take a bit to calculate it.

Can you get a free trial of realflow?

Now I know this isn't the WIP area, but I'd just like to post the 2nd RealFlow test scene while my PC is busy simulating the fluids. The lighting isn't perfect, but I did try to keep the scene very plain in order to make the fluids stand out as much as possible.

By the way - the idea came from a wine glass modeled by happymat27 (https://forum.simplymaya.com/showthre...threadid=24246)

Thanks...

Bottoms up...

I'm happy with how this simulation turned out (it's however taking a while to render in Maya).

While we wait, here is a single still to 'wet' your appetite.

Cheers! user added image

Hey there Dave,

that looks really cool. I got a demo of Realflow 3 on the front of 3dworld ages ago but never really looked into it, how do you rate Realflow in the ease of use department?

Cheers,

Mat.

Hey Mat,

RF4 seems more intuitive then RF3 with many of the mesh/particle cache settings automated. A background in Maya sure helps as a lot of the camera & transiton tools are very similar. Took me less that an hour to become familiar with it.
