can anyone give me tips on how to do the spokes for the wheels

Coming along nicely smeeze. If you are modeling with NURBS, then the one way you could do spokes would be to just create cylinders and then rescale them to fit on the rims, and then fillet the cylinders for that extra detail. That's one way I would do it, I hope I could be of any help. user added image

Create a cylinder, change the pivot point, duplicate, and rotate.
