Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

Key Framing Issue (Visibility)

I'm trying to insert a muzzle flash for a gunshot. I have some geometry with a glow on it and I'm trying to key frame it one frame at a time, key-framing the visibility on and off. For whatever reason, the frames with the visibility turned on won't render the glow. If I break all animation connection though, I can see it so I know it's there. Please help me figure out this problem.

Edit: Actually, I notice is does this with anything w/ keyframed visibility. Why is this and how can I fix it?

you might want to just render the muzzle flash and glow separately and composite them onto the rest and animate the opacity in the compositing program... might save you a headache.

actually let's back up a bit. what are you rendering with? maya software? mental ray? are you sure there is a glow applied to the texture of the object you want glowing? what value is your glow set to?
