This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with
complex objects.
Cool, always good to hear someone new joining our little area of interest!! What course are you taking?? Is it specialising in a certain type of animation, for instance, 2D, 3D(VFX, Character work, etc)??
I guess it's just a course to familiarize myself with Maya. I'm going to be modeling, and then work with skins and lighting and a bit of actual animation. Remember, it's only a semester course. =^^= I can't even talk about what the other people in the class are doing, because they're in first period and I'm in 6th. My teacher's awesome, and the 6th period class is art 2, photography 2, animation, painting, wire sculpture, and computer graphics all in one class, so I'm basically working from my two textbooks and stuff.
BTW, is there any issue with using a maya 8 textbook with a maya 7 program?? I got the book this summer without knowing what level program my school had.
maya 7 and maya 8 are pretty similar just a couple of little changes like buttons are moved to different areas and somethings are named differently but you can definately get around it.
