Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

How do you have the camera follow an object?

Hey peeps...does anyone know how to link a camera to an object in motion so that the camera stays still while it follows the object across the screen?user added image

Thanks for your help,

You can try parenting it to the object from a bit of a distance out.. Or yous a motion path.

(1) Select the object.
(2) Shift-Select the camera
(3) Hotbox: Constrain -> Aim

You will probably need to fiddle with the vector of the aim constraint to get the camera to look down the correct axis. Once you've done this, you can move your object around and the camera will follow it.

even easier is to create a camera and aim in the camera rollout. Get the camera into position and move the aim to the centre of your object.Then select the aim object in the outliner then shift select the object you want it to follow. Hit "p" to parent those two suckers. Now move the object about and the camera should change colour to show that it#s dependant on the object, the camera should follow the object about now.

I thought about that, but you have to be careful to select only the camera in the group should you want to move it around.

yeah that shouldnt be a problem, just select the camera as normal and it will still point towards the object. But you may have problems if you move the group.
