problem with polygon and subd

hello everyone
I have a problem converting polygon to subd
I have downloaded some tutorial from this site. and when I convert the polygons to subdivision they don't look like the ones in tutorial. I mean they are not that smooth and you still see some shrp edges like polygons. I change the parameteres in the conversion window but still the problem does exist. and also the control vertices look like polygone vertices not likt those quadrangels in subd

would anyone please help me.:headbang: :headbang:

Just to expound on this. NURBS and SubDs have different smoothness display level. 1, 2, and 3. When create or convert to these geometry types Maya defaults to the lowest display setting, 1. You can toggle trough these amazingly enough by using the 1, 2, and 3 keys.
