Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

dissapearing geometry

I have been working through a textbook on a project called salty the seal.
I finished the project and went to render it and it started off ok, but around frame 63 of 375 it started acting strangely.
In the main window everything looks fine at frame 63 but when I render it one piece of geometry completely dissapears. It pops back a couple of times but is gone for 10 to 30 frames at a time. Rendering frame 63 alone yields the same result. There are no keyframes set on the water geometry so I don't know what's going on.
Can someone please help? I want to get this project rendered and finished.
The image below shows the water before it dissapears.

might could try rendering in passes, but you'd need some sort of compositing software to put the passes together.

maya renderer the problem?

I did another render in mental ray and the geometry didn't dissapear.
I did have a minor tesselation error though causing jaggies on the water but I think I've taken care of it.
Still would like to know the root cause in maya render though.
