Please help

I'm new to Maya and so I've been working through an old Learning Maya book and have come across a problem which i am sure there's an easy answer for:
in the book it tells me to input the following and that it should move just the pivot.
ive included a pic of what it shows me.
ive tried using the mel script but it just gives me a syntax error.
its sooooo frustrating trying to move the pivot to exactly zero just with a mouse

any help would be appreciated

Easiest way to move a pivot point is to do the following:
1) Select object.
2) Press "insert."
3) Hold down x key. (grid snapping shortcut key)
4) Drag pivot point to center of grid.
5) Press insert again.

Hope that helps.

You would need to type 0 0 0 for it to move to the origin. Not sure why the book would say otherwise.
