from the front view the hair looks amazing! there's some bald spots and distinct flat poly lines from the other two views... but it's definitely getting there!

thanks man!!, yeah i know, i didn't realise once the alpha was applied that the scalp would show through like that,

any advise on getting the hair to look better would be much appreciated,

i'm going to work on some more later today, i'm going to add more hair geo and see if that helps, hell i still have like 300 tris to spare so i suppose i might as well use them on the hair

styled the hair geo to match afro's hair and worked the texture a little more, preety much finished now, just a few touch ups here and there and i'll be finished, i have to say though this was a really good learning experince, :attn: this is actually the 3rd model i have ever textured, so i'm still new to that side of things and was also the first time i ever used alpha masks, in conclusion a i had a relatively problem free pleasent time

jali - the textures are looking great - well done - i really love that last picture.

I gotta say though - i still think his pose is really letting this down - he looks like he's leaning back too much. i know you said that it matches the ref, but if that's the case, then the refs are wrong! post them up so we can see. user added image

thanks for all the comments man, much appreciated,

you're probably right about him leanning back, i'll get working on it, as for reference pics, well they were just two pics that were the best i could find in oder to model afro, so maybe they weren't the most accurate,

also i intend on having him in a different pose to what hes in now,
so it isn't too big a deal, but i do see where you're coming from
