Default how to attach fur?

I wanna attach fur to some faces. How do you do that? If I select a model and attach fur, not the whole model gets fur, but only one face.

When attaching fur to a polygonal object, make sure your UVs are layed out ..

Fur on Polys rely heavily on the UV map.

Also make sure the Face Normals are in the right direction.

Ok, I have no idea how UV maps work, was just going to read that in my book so I could give my head model a nice texture. When I've learned the basics, I'll give the fur another try.
