light pass thru wall (and there is no window!)

Could someone explain this to me (see picture) (spot light is the arrow)
The light is a normal spot light
the texture of the wall is a normal lambert
I use normal maya render but the light passing thru the wall can be seen in viewport.
This thing is killing me and I cant figure out the problem!

Thanks!

not sure , is the wall double sided? you can always use light linking to stop this but you're right it's very weird. Maybe you could post your scene up and I'll take a look.

Yes, the wall is double sided since its a simple cube that has been resized.

I wont be back at my home until tomorow night and I will send you the scene file.

I have tried the change the light for a point light and still have the same problem. And since it can also be seen from the preview window it means that it has nothing to do with the renderer.

Thanks! This thing is killing me!

Ok I had a quick look, I've never seen anything like that before, but if you turn on cast shadows for the light then it will stop it from doing it.

Cool, I will try this.

Still, I cant figure out what I could have done to make it so. I just modeled the various part of the wall/stairs from polys and never changed any settings... weird, I will have to see if it does the same thing with my other projects.

Thanks again!
